Get Your FAQs Straight!
The fastest route to an answer to your question is a VIN Database Search. But, because many topics have been discussed many times on the message boards, the number of "hits" you get can be overwhelming. To help you, the VIN team of consultants (and other experts) continue to create up-to-date summaries (FAQs) of topics commonly discussed on the message boards. Save time, check out the Medical FAQs, before you post. Recently added FAQs:
The Winn Feline Foundation Library on VIN
The Winn Feline Foundation was established by the Cat Fanciers' Association (CFA, www.cfainc.org) in 1968 to create a source of funding for medical studies to improve the health and well-being of cats. The Foundation was named to honor CFA's long-time attorney and advisor, Robert H. Winn and is a non-profit organization with 501(c)(3) status. Since its inception, over $2.5 million in grants have been awarded by Winn. Over the years, Winn grants have helped advance veterinary knowledge in all areas of feline health. The Winn Feline Foundation Library contains educational material, research reports and grant information.

Aggressive behavior in adopted dogs that passed a temperament test
Our results indicated that there are certain types of aggressive tendencies (territorial, predatory, and intra-specific aggression) that are not reliably exhibited during temperament testing using this particular evaluation process. Efforts to protect public health through temperament testing should take this into account by combining temperament testing results with shelter and/or foster behavioral evaluations, offering both pre- and post-adoption behavioral counseling, and encouraging other educational opportunities for owners.
Evaluation of persistence of terbinafine in the hair of normal cats after 14 days of daily therapy
Terbinafine persists in hair at concentrations above the minimum inhibitory concentration for several weeks after stopping medication, even after short-term therapy (14 days). These results suggest that pulse therapy of terbinafine should be further researched and potentially considered as a treatment modality for feline dermatophytosis, an approach that would decrease treatment duration while maintaining effectiveness.
The clinical and histopathological effects of prednisone on acute radiation-induced dermatitis in dogs: a placebo-controlled, randomized, double-blind, prospective clinical trial
Prednisone did not decrease acute radiation-induced dermatitis (ARID) severity clinically or histopathologically.

Eyelid tacking technique
As you know, the idea is to temporarily get the entropion everted so that when the pup is older you can do entropion surgery - with that goal in mind, you just pull the skin in various places until you see the eyelid looking more normal then you suture the skin with a stay suture so it stays that way. I have placed two staples and run a suture through that so that I could adjust it without sedating the pup as it grows. You are usually putting the suture above the eyelid not in the lid, or at least that's the way I 've done it. It's definitely not a cure; the pup still needs entropion surgery.
DEA's drug storage rules
In planning new clinic, trying to make sure will be able to be in full compliance on controlled drug issues, but can't seem to find a list on the DEA site. Anyone with location of info. Specifically, wondering about storage of refrigerated, injectable and orals....don't they have to be behind to levels of locking....so can I install lock on frig door? or does it have to be in a locked cabinet....seems like I'll need 4 different locked cabinets.
