Results of pacemaker implantation in 104 dogs
Transvenous pacemaker implantation was successful in reducing or eliminating clinical signs in over 90 per cent of dogs with third-degree atrioventricular (AV) block or sick sinus syndrome. In dogs with vasovagal syncope, six of eight dogs had greatly reduced frequency of collapse and two became asymptomatic. Although the procedure was associated with complications, these were rarely life threatening and good survival was documented in the majority of cases.

Successful medical treatment of 15 dogs with pyothorax
In dogs that do not have evidence of pulmonary masses or consolidations, and no evidence of granular pleural effusion, medical therapy may be curative even in chronic cases of pyothorax with pleural adhesions.

The effect of uterine torsion on mare and foal survival: a retrospective study, 1985--2005
The stage of gestation at which uterine torsion occurred was a risk factor for survival of mare and foal. Overall mare survival was 53/63 (84%); when uterine torsion occurred at less than 320 days gestation, 36/37 (97%) of mares survived compared to 17/26 (65%) survival rate when uterine torsion occurred at more than/equal to 320 days gestation. Overall foal survival was 54% (29/54).

Parenteral nutrition in foals: a retrospective study of 45 cases (2000--2004)
The indications for parenteral nutrition (PN) were recumbency, depression, or gastrointestinal conditions. Formulation of PN was not associated with the development of complications, and there was no association of PN formula with patient survival. Disease severity was positively associated with the development of PN complications and the occurrence of PN complications was associated with an increased risk of nonsurvival.

Exhausted After Going To Continuing Education Not Of My Choosing: How To Deal With This Situation
Last time I went on CE I was exhausted. Thing is, when boss goes to CE he gets 2 days buffer before and after the trip. Practice manager is the daughter of boss and when I asked for a day comp time after the first trip, her comment to me pretty much insinuated that I was ungrateful as I was sent to a class that made me a better doctor. Am I out of line here?
