The total number of dogs and cats injured or killed as a direct result of the Menu Foods "incident" will likely never be known.  Based upon the number of VINners posting cases, the impact is widespread.

At this point the damage has been done.   We, as veterinarians, now have at least 3 responsibilities:  1. to treat affected pets; 2. to collect data to help estimate the impact upon pets and pet-owners; 3. to analyze and use the data collected to monitor trends.  This survey (along with ongoing collation of data from the VIN Message Boards)  is an attempt to actively address points 2 and 3 above.

Please help by responding to this survey whether you HAVE or HAVE NOT seen one or more cases of renal failure associated with pet food consumption since December 2006.

Please note that the survey asks for detailed laboratory information.  If possible, have the medical records of suspected cases on hand.   Please be as complete as you can.  But, even if you are unable to fill in complete detail, remember that registering cases -- even without great detail -- is important.

If you get interrupted, hit NEXT on the current survey page to register responses completed.   You can return to the survey later and click thru the pages completed to continue filling in data.

Each "take" of the survey can accomodate up to 5 cases. If you have seen more than 5 cases, there is no limit to the number of times you can fill out the survey.

As soon as the information is collated, we will release it to the VIN community and profession.  The goal is to quantify the impact and contribute in any way possible to helping resolve the issue for the good of our patients and clients.

All responses will be kept confidential. Together, we can make a difference!
