When we find dental and occlusal disorders in the clinic, vets are not only asked for significance and treatment options, we are also asked if the condition is hereditary. There is very little literature and evidence based science in this field, but I will try to give some guidelines to help in the evaluation if an abnormal finding is hereditary or not and depending on the clinical severity should expel the individual from breeding.
