Gastric ulcer caused by Contracaecum osculatum (Nematode: Ascarididae) was observed in a Steller sea lion from the California coast. The parasite penetrated deeply into the gastric wall and caused extensive inflammatory reaction. The nature of the ulcer and the extent of the reaction is discussed.
