Genetic Mapping of Legg Calve Perthes Disease
We have mapped a locus for Legg Calve Perthes (LCP) disease but the association does not reach the genome wide (Bonferroni) level of significance. We seek DNA from additional cases of LCP including radiographs to increase mapping power and to replicate the association in an independent set of dogs. We will sequence a subset of these cases and controls to identify the mutation(s).

Sample Size:
200 dogs
Inclusion Criteria:
- Dogs diagnosed with LCP disease. Diagnosis has to include radiographs or pathology — these have to be available for review by the investigators.
- Dogs diagnosed at any time can be included provided that radiographs and blood samples can be obtained and submitted.
Exclusion Criteria:
- Dogs without radiographic or histopathologic confirmation of the disease.
Study Controls:
Dogs without LCP will be used. We are not recruiting healthy dogs at present.
Samples:
3–5cc EDTA blood. Can be refrigerated for up to 1 week prior to submission. Radiographs (digital format) should be submitted for evaluation by investigators prior to submitting blood sample.
