VIN Drug and Food Recall Center
The goal of the Drug and Food Recall Center is to provide information and links about recalls that affect veterinary practices and the clients and patients they serve.

You'll find a list of the most recent recalls, links to other helpful resources and an archive of past recalls. You can get to the Drug and Food Recall Center from the VINdex (Ctrl+E).

You and your clients can also visit the Drug and Food Recall Center together at News.vin.com.

If you have information about a recall or resource that you'd like to share, please email news@vin.com.

Be Prepared for Holiday Health Hazards
The most wonderful time of the year can also be the most dangerous time of the year for pets.

Below are just some of the resources you can use to brush up on your knowledge and help educate your clients on potential holiday hazards:

Presenter for Mobile Devices
More and more VINners are using VIN from their mobile devices. Some VIN features are built with Adobe FLASH technology which makes them incompatible with some mobile devices, especially those from Apple. This has made it challenging to accomplish the goal of making all VIN features mobile friendly, but as the saying goes... Rome wasn't built in a day!

It took a little more than a day, but the VIN Wizards have created a version of Presenter that allows you to view slideshow images on your mobile device. Scroll through images in a slideshow using the 'Previous' and 'Next' buttons in the navigation bar at the bottom of the screen or choose an image from 'Gallery' view.

Get a quick overview and then try it from your mobile device. As always, let us know if you have any trouble using it from your device.

Enteropathogens identified in cats entering a Florida animal shelter with normal feces or diarrhea
In the present study, cats entered the shelter with a variety of enteropathogens, many of which are pathogenic or zoonotic. Most infections were not associated with diarrhea or any specific risk factors such as signalment, source, or body condition, making it difficult to predict which cats were most likely to be infected.

Staphylococcal skin disease in livestock
Studies on livestock-associated MRSA may help to progress our understanding of staphylococci in livestock, especially how they spread between animals and humans.

Lessons learned from cloning dogs
Cloned dogs have similar growth characteristics to those born from natural fertilization, with no evidence of serious adverse effects. The offspring of cloned dogs also have similar growth performance and health to those of naturally bred puppies.

Do Dogs Grieve For Lost Friends? Opinions On Letting Dogs View Euthanasia Of Companion Pets
This is interesting. Over here, there seems to be an unwritten rule that you should *never* have one dog in the same room at the same time that another is euthanized. It's seen as an act of serious emotional cruelty to let this happen.

Determining Staff Pay Increases
I like the idea of asking staffers what they want. Some people will always take the money, but some may want more vacation days or CE paid for. I would rather give them what they want to make them happy and have a more fulfilled job than just always offer them money if they are getting paid a fair wage already.

Dental Brain Teaser: Prioritizing Diagnostics In A Dog With Periodontal Disease And An Abdominal Mass
The clinical evaluation of advanced periodontal disease will undoubtedly involve multiple extractions and periodontal procedure. Let's say the mass turns out to be bad disease. Is it right to address the mouth issues even though the dog may not have too long to live?

Cat With Hepatic Herniation Into Peritoneal Pericardial Diaphragmatic Hernia (Radiographs)
You can have a normal-looking barium swallow if there are no viscera in the chest. The key is to look for all of the abdominal organs.

Use MyVIN to build your MyColleagues list
The Colleagues tool in MyVIN allows you to communicate with, and get to know, your fellow VIN members outside of discussions on the VIN Message Boards.

Use the Search option to find other VIN members by their name and location. You can then invite them to be added to your MyColleagues list so you can share information with each other. You can also use MyVIN to email a fellow VINner even if they haven't shared their email address on their VIN profile.

This help document will show you how to use MyColleagues to build a list of VIN contacts.
