VIN Mentor now on Beta.vin.com
Over the years, many VINners have suggested that a video procedures manual would be a great addition to the VIN Library. Now, VIN Mentor is on Beta.vin.com and ready to help first-timers and those who might just be a little rusty.

Mentor includes videos of complete medical procedures with narration, step-by-step instructions, accompanying materials lists, and enough information to help you perform the procedures with success.

You can also print a PDF to have with you as you perform each procedure.

At the moment, the videos show mostly procedures commonly performed in the ER, but as the collection grows it will include procedures from many disciplines (including exotic species).

To suggest a procedure for inclusion, or contribute your own videos, please email Tony@vin.com.

Retrospective study of neurological signs and management of seven English horses with temporohyoid osteoarthropathy
This retrospective study summarises the case details, presenting signs, management and outcome in cases of temporohyoid osteoarthropathy (THO) and describes the findings of diagnostic imaging modalities. The condition appears to be relatively rare in Europe and the objective of this study is to make clinicians aware that THO can have a range of various neurological and clinical presentations.

Seroprevalence of Neospora caninum in cattle in Sudan
Neosporosis is prevalent in cattle in most States of Sudan. Absence of evidence of infection in three of the States investigated may reflect the small number of herds and sera tested.

Dental enamel hypoplasia as indicators of seasonal environmental and physiological impacts in modern sheep populations: a model for interpreting the zooarchaeological record
Variation in enamel hypoplasia frequency has also been linked to climatic and ecological factors, leading to variation in the availability of fodder supplies and, consequently, variation in nutritional intake. In this paper, the occurrence of enamel hypoplasia in two modern sheep populations is, for the first time, correlated with known seasonal physiological and nutritional stress events.

The history and pharmacology of fentanyl: relevance to a novel, long-acting transdermal fentanyl solution newly approved for use in dogs
The recent approval of long-acting transdermal fentanyl solution for dogs provides a new approach for sustained delivery of fentanyl for the control of postoperative pain in dogs.

Stage Three Heartworm Disease In An Adult Dog: Is Adulticide Treatment Worth The Risk?
The pulmonary arteries are all hugely dilated with increased tortuosity and blunting. There are marked perivascular pulmonary infiltrates in the caudal lung fields. These are some of the worst changes I've seen in 32 years of practice in Florida, and I've seen tons of dogs with heartworm disease.

Benefits Of Performing In-House Urine Cultures; Sending Positive Urine Culture Sample To Outside Laboratory; Disposing Of Positive Culture Plates
The lab charges you the same price for a negative culture as for a positive one. If you are doing urine cultures for all indications, most of your cultures will be negative, so why pay the lab for a negative urine culture when you can get the same result in-house for significantly less?

Cats Were Poisoned When Receptionist Sold Dog-Only Products To Cat Owner: What To Do About Receptionist?
Legally speaking, there is really no point in writing this ex-employee a confrontational letter, unless you write it for your own purposes and never send it. The only reason you would have to go after her is if you suffered damages due to reckless or intentional harm, not mistakes made by a not-so-bright employee.

Value Of Tramadol In Pain Management Of Dogs; Can Tramadol And Buprenorphine Be Given Together?
I suspect if dosed properly for pain control and used with proper perioperative analgesia, tramadol would be an effective analgesic. I still feel, as a client once said, that tramadol alone is about as useful as Chiclets for pain control.
