This course is intended to review tools used in nutrition practice, as well as basic principles of canine and feline nutrition. This two-hour course will focus on nutritional assessment tools, differences between canine and feline nutrition, a brief overview of pet food label interpretation, and a discussion of dietary options for dogs and cats. Principles of Medicine The second of six modules in the Organ System Pathophysiology and ABVP Core Examination review series, this course is designed to cover the pathophysiological basis of disease in small animals based on pathophysiological and discipline-specific concepts. Clinical examples will be used to illustrate these concepts. Focus will be on clinical decision making and the diagnostic process including problem-oriented clinical reasoning, the assessment of laboratory data, and an introduction to evidenced-based medicine. This module together with the first module Pathological Basis of Disease are designed to prepare the participant for the organ system-based modules. The course can be used as a portion of the preparation for the ABVP Core examination, but it is not designed as a test-preparation course.
