Retorts or Comeback Lines

My boss was examining an aggressive doxie and she had placed a muzzle. The owner asked, "Can she BREATHE with that on?" My response would have been, "Yes. She can breathe through the nose just fine. We'll take it off as soon as it's safe for us."

My boss said, "No. She can't breathe at all," and just kept right on doing the exam. The client got quiet for a minute, then said, "Oh. Well, I guess you wouldn't put it on if it stopped her from breathing, would you?"

Boss: "Exactly!"

I wish I could get away with saying things like that!

Here's what I do with a fractious cat who either is suspected of having cardiac disease, or does have heart disease but the clinical significance is unknown.

I Am Going To Get Fired If I Don't Vaccinate Every Dog For Coronavirus
I don't think you're doing something medically harmful, just unnecessary. So I'd give the vaccine. Wait for your boss to retire (sounds like he may be of that age bracket), then purchase the practice from him and run it as you see fit. Or you can find another position elsewhere.
