Model Employment Agreements
The VIN Foundation produced this model contract template to help ease the sometimes complicated contract negotiations scenario. The model contract is an illustrated example of a fair and balanced veterinary contract, which you can alter as necessary. To help get you started, VIN Attorney Raphael Moore presented a rounds that walks through and explains in simple terms the model contract and contracts in general. You can read or listen to the rounds. Those who have used it say it helped them work through the details without creating feelings of adversity between employer and employee. You'll find the Model Employment Contract in the Legal Specialty Center (under contracts). You can also find a link to the VIN Foundation Library in the Practice Management and Misc. sections of the Main library.
Title Vs. Descriptive Title
Message board discussions have two lives: the first when they are interactive discussions between colleagues on the message boards, the second when they come up as a search result helping you and other VINners who can benefit from the prior discussion -- for years to come. Before becoming searchable in the VIN Database, the tireless VIN indexing team scours each posting to ensure the search results you get make sense and to help you zero in on the content you want. When appropriate, the team creates a Descriptive Title that more clearly illustrates the key point of the discussion. Both the poster's Original Title and the Descriptive Title are shown in the discussion details. Words found in either title are treated as highly relevant search terms when using the VIN Search. See this example and further explanation.

Understanding and evaluating veterinary clinical research
Clinical research is either retrospective in observational studies, looking at historical medical records as the source of data, or prospective in both experimental and observational studies, where the study is designed before any patients are included. Prospective, experimental studies provide the more reliable results, although they form a minority of published reports. Randomized, controlled trials are the most reliable format, and attempts should be made to use this design more often in veterinary medicine.
Clinical signs, therapy and zoonotic risk of pet guinea pigs with dermatophytosis
In approximately one quarter of the cases humans showed clinical signs of dermatophytosis, in half the households, only children were affected. Skin lesions were seen most often on the face, the neck and the arms. Pet guinea pigs carrying dermatophytes must be considered a serious zoonotic risk for their owners, especially for children. A major risk factor for dermatophytosis seems to be a recent acquisition of a new guinea pig.
Disseminated pleomorphic myofibrosarcoma in a grizzly bear (Ursus arctos horribilis)
The pathological and diagnostic features of a widely disseminated pleomorphic high-grade myofibroblastic sarcoma are described in a 23-year-old male brown bear (Ursus arctos horribilis). Firm, solid, white to tan neoplastic nodules, often with cavitated or soft grey-red necrotic centres, were observed throughout most internal organs, subcutaneous tissues and skeletal muscles on gross examination.
