Free Full Text

Treatment with sarolaner resulted in >=99.6% efficacy against existing infestations of all five tick species within 48 hours. The efficacy against weekly post-treatment re-infestations of all tick species was >=96.9% for at least 35 days after treatment. Thus, a single dose of sarolaner administered orally at the minimum dosage of 2 mg/kg, resulted in excellent efficacy within 48 hours against existing tick infestations, and against weekly re-infestations for 35 days after treatment.

Diagnostic Testing for Vector-Borne Disease: What am I Missing?
November 29 - December 23, 2016
Presenter(s): Linda Kidd, DVM, PhD, DACVIM

"The tick panel was negative," is a common phrase that is used to indicate that vector-borne disease has been ruled out in a patient with immune-mediated disease. However, which diagnostic testing modality (PCR or serology) is most sensitive, which organisms should be included in a panel, and whether repeat testing should be performed, depends on the case scenario. In this course, clinically relevant epidemiology and pathophysiology of vector-borne disease agents and theory behind the design of diagnostic tests used for vector-borne disease screening will be reviewed and applied to case scenarios.
Note: This FREE course is open to VIN members only. Non-members and veterinary students are not eligible to enroll in this class.

Check the World Clock Time Zone Converter to confirm class start times for your area.
