Update on the diagnosis and management of Macrorhabdus ornithogaster (formerly megabacteria) in avian patients
Direct observation of the organism in the feces is a specific, but somewhat insensitive, means of diagnosis. At least three antifungal drugs are reported to be effective for treatment, but resistance to one or more of these drugs may occur.

Clinical findings and prevalence of the mutation associated with primary ciliary dyskinesia in old english sheepdogs
CCDC39 mutation is dispersed in a worldwide population and is responsible for PCD in this breed. Genetic testing might enable control of this disease.

Management of the surgical equine colic patient following hospital discharge
This article discusses the management of the colic patient in the postoperative period and outlines possible complications, with a particular focus on the identification and management of complications that may occur immediately after hospital discharge.

Intravenous Fluid Dose Modifications For Patients With Mitral Valve Disease That Will Be Anesthetized For Dental Procedures
Why do you need to give fluids for a short procedure? If a dog is euvolemic to start, and you control blood pressure and perfusion with good balanced anesthesia, why do we want to make it hypervolemic during a non-fluid-losing procedure?

Where Have All the Clients Gone?
I try to keep my "free time" work related and I read text books, journals, and VIN. I will go watch surgeries or discuss another doctor's cases with them. I call clients and go over blood work, call and check up on patients, etc. I am not the only doctor that is slow, some days a few of us have 2-3 appointments so am not concerned that it is me specifically. But there are two doctors that are constantly booked, every single day. I ask them how it is they manage and they don't really know - it just happens.

Is there something I should be doing to bring clients in? I hand out business cards when appropriate, but don't really know of any other ways to "market" myself. How do those of you that employ new grads want them to spend their down time?
