  • 35 videos depicting specific diagnostic and treatment procedures

Find it in the VIN Library and in the Ophthalmology and Equine Specialty Centers.

Kidney Questions? Urine Luck!
Got a kitty with recurrent cystitis or a dog with PU/PD? Looking for facilities that perform renal transplants or for images of bladder stones? You'll find everything you’ve always wanted to know about kidneys, bladders, urethras, and more in the Urology-Nephrology Specialty Center.

Find it on the About Page of the Urology-Nephrology Message Board and through the Specialty Centers page of the VIN Library.

Upload Images to the VIN Message Boards from your Mobile Device!
If you have an Android powered device or any Apple device running iOS6, now you can upload images to the VIN message boards directly from your mobile device.

The VIN Geeks and Wizards have tested on the following devices with encouraging success:

  • iPad 2/3
  • iPhone 3, 4(s) and 5
  • Nexus 7
  • Thrive
  • Sony S
  • Nook
  • BlackBerry PlayBook

You can also take a photo and post it directly to the message boards from your device within seconds! Keep in mind that images taken with a mobile device sometimes lack picture quality. Take care when using images posted from your mobile device in posts where you are requesting medical opinions on the message boards.

Remember, whether you're using your mobile device or your desktop, you can only attach one (1) image per post, so you'll still need to create a separate reply for each image you want to post.

As you know, new features often have bugs to work out, but early testing looks encouraging!

Read more about how to post images to Message Boards or watch this video.

If you want to be on the "bleeding edge" make Beta.vin.com your VIN Homepage.

Perception of dogs’ stress by their owners
An owner’s ability to recognize behavioral signs of stress is important, as it enables the owner to help the animal to avoid welfare problems, such as stressful situations, and favors a rapid recovery of psychophysical homeostasis by interrupting the progression to overstress and distress. The results show that some owners can help in protecting the welfare of their dogs, but that many owners would benefit from educational efforts to improve their ability to interpret their dogs’ behavior.

A randomised, double-blinded, placebo-controlled study on the efficacy of a unique extract of green-lipped mussel (Perna canaliculus) in horses with chronic fetlock lameness attributed to osteoarthritis
Lyophilised products from green-lipped mussel (Perna canaliculus [LPPC]) are used to orally treat horses with osteoarthritis (OA). However, no randomised, controlled or double-blinded studies on the efficacy of this treatment in horses have been reported to date.

Effects of social dominance, water trough location and shade availability on drinking behaviour of cows on pasture
The effects of water trough location and presence of shade on the behaviour of cows on pasture were investigated. The impact of social hierarchy on cows’ use of shade and the water trough was also investigated. Thirty two non-pregnant dry cows were randomly divided in four groups in a 4 × 4 Latin square design.

Radiopaque Density Appears To Be Within Urinary Tract, But Could Not Find The Stone During Dog's Surgery
Kizzie was initially seen at our clinic Oct 2011 for UTI signs and was found to have bladder stones. We proceeded to surgery. The catheter passed freely and I could not manually palpate anything in the trigone. I palpated into the pelvic canal from the abdomen to palpate for any abnormality - none was found. My questions are: Where is this stone!!!!!

Dexamethasone Use In Veterinary Medicine: Opinions On What Constitutes Appropriate And Inappropriate Usage
Saying dexamethasone injections are good medicine or bad medicine is the same as saying antibiotics are good or bad. Or surgery. Or pretty much any other treatment. Because with any treatment there are indications and there are contraindications.

Medical And Surgical Treatment Options For An Alpaca With A Corneal Abscess Due To Foreign Body
The abscess is nearly gone and you can clearly see that the tiny thorn that caused the puncture is sitting behind the defect in the cornea. I never would have thought this would look so good.
