Pet Chickens! Husbandry, Medicine and Surgery
Keeping small chicken flocks is an increasingly popular hobby. But there's more to "backyard chickens" than just scattering feed and collecting eggs. Join Brian Speer, DVM, DABVP, DECZM, this Sunday night to learn some facts about flocks of fowl. This session will be all text, no audio.

If you can't attend, check the Rounds or Front Page of VIN, or next Tuesday's VIN This Week, for links to the transcript of the discussion.

Why Haven't I Gotten a Response to my Message Board Post yet?
The VIN consultants/editors make every effort to make sure you have a response (from them or any VINner with valuable input) within 48 hours (usually much sooner) of posting, but sometimes things don't go as planned.

Remember, VIN is colleagues helping colleagues, and the more input from all VINners, the better for all of us. So don't be shy about chiming in to help others and don't be put off if your help comes from someone not on the list of VIN consultant/editors or without a bunch of letters after their name.

To keep track of the huge number of posts per day, the wonderful VIN Representative Team, with the help of an automated system, monitors and track the age of threads needing a response. Posting a reply to your own unanswered discussion to refresh the thread is counterproductive, as this will make a thread look "newer" to the system than it actually is.

If it's been more than 48 hours since you started your discussion, please email feedback@vin.com to let us know.

To get the most from your posts:
Read the transcript of this Rounds session presented by VINner Kim Schiller, DVM, ABVP.

If you have any questions contact membership services or email to feedback@vin.com.

Just the FAQs
The fastest route to an answer to your question is a VIN Database Search. But, because some topics have been discussed many times on the message boards, the number of "hits" can be overwhelming.

To help you, the VIN consultant/editors (and other experts) continue to create up-to-date summaries (FAQs) of topics commonly discussed on the message boards.

Save time and check out the Medical FAQs before you post. Find them in the VIN Library or through the VINDEX (Ctrl+E).

Presenter for Mobile Devices
More and more VINners are using VIN from their mobile devices. Some VIN features are built with Adobe FLASH technology which makes them incompatible with some mobile devices, especially those from Apple. This has made it challenging to accomplish the goal of making all VIN features mobile friendly, but as the saying goes... Rome wasn't built in a day!

It took a little more than a day, but the VIN Wizards have created a brand new version of Presenter that allows you to view slideshow images on your mobile device. Now you can scroll through images in a slideshow using the 'Previous' and 'Next' buttons in the navigation bar at the bottom of the screen or choose an image from 'Gallery' view.

Get a quick overview and then try it from your mobile device. As always, let us know if you have any trouble using it from your device.

Another common misconception is that heart disease causes systemic hypertension. This is not true; in fact, it's the opposite. Systemic hypertension, if it's severe, causes changes in the heart and worsens cardiac abnormalities like mitral regurgitation.
