Why Haven't I Gotten a Response to my Message Board Post yet?
The VIN consultants and editors make every effort to make sure you have a response within 48 hours (usually much sooner) of posting, but sometimes things don't go as planned.

Remember, VIN is colleagues helping colleagues, and the more input from all VINners, the better for all of us. So don't be shy about chiming in to help others and don't be put off if your help comes from someone not on the list of VIN consultant/editors or without a bunch of letters after their name.

To keep track of the huge number of posts per day, the wonderful VIN Representative Team, with the help of an automated system, monitors and tracks the age of threads needing a response.

If it's been more than 48 hours since you started your discussion, please email feedback@vin.com to let us know.

To get the most from your posts:
Read the transcript of this Rounds session presented by VINner Kim Schiller, DVM, ABVP.

If you have any questions contact membership services or email to feedback@vin.com.

CTVT Project - Worldwide Distribution Questionnaire
Have you ever diagnosed any cases of Canine Transmissible Venereal Tumor (CTVT)? The University of Cambridge, in the UK, is conducting a survey to map worldwide distribution of the disease. Note: This is not a VIN survey, but we have verified that the link is safe.

Even if you have never diagnosed a case of CTVT, the Cambridge Research Team appreciates your participation in this survey.

First field results on the use of stallion sex-sorted semen in a large-scale embryo transfer program
Sex accuracy of the sex sorting assessed by ultrasound fetal sex determination was 90.3%. Finally, overall efficiency (female embryo pregnancies per useable cycles) was 39% (325/838), meaning that to obtain a female pregnancy of at least 75 days it was necessary to perform 2.5 flushing.

Failure of imidocarb dipropionate and toltrazuril/emodepside plus clindamycin in treating Hepatozoon canis infection
Based on the absence of a consensus on the treatment regimes for canine hepatozoonosis, the present study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of imidocarb dipropionate (5-6 mg/kg subcutaneously once a week for 6 weeks), and of toltrazuril/emodepside (Procox(®), 15 mg/kg once a day for 6 days) in association with clindamycin (15 mg/kg once a day for 21 days) in treating naturally infected dogs.

Litterbox size preference in domestic cats (Felis catus)
Results indicate that most cats show a definite preference for a larger litterbox than is typically available to them in homes and that other factors such as box cleanliness and location may have a compounding influence on this choice.

Rescue Dog With A Tibia, Fibula, And Patella, But No Femur
I have seen femurs go away secondary to neoplasia, but in all of those cases the thigh was swollen, rather than atrophied. So my vote is for a congenital issue.

I Got A Request For Information From The Bureau Of Labor Statistics: Is This Legitimate?
The Bureau of Labor (Statistics Collection Center) wants us to fill out a form monthly for at least the next six months. Do any of you know if this is something new, widespread, or legally required of us to do?

Are Your Clients Frequently Late For Appointments?
We had a client with a 9:30 am appointment call at 1:30 to tell us she was running a little bit late. Where in the world is 4 hours just a little bit late? People kill me.

Vomiting Cat With Tubular Mass In Abdomen: Ileocolic Intussusception Found (Radiographs)
At the time these images were made, there was an intussusception. It is obviously patent, as there is no significant gas build up. If this stays, you will see inside this abdomen, and probably on a Saturday morning.

    Garage Sale Advice

Dr. Grumpy: "So, at your last visit I prescribed Quiloxitab for the symptoms. How's that working?"

Mr. Rummage: "Actually, I never took it. I decided to try herbal Oil de Baculum instead."

    Dr. Grumpy: "Has it helped?"

Mr. Rummage: "Not yet, but the guy who told me to said it can take a few months."

Dr. Grumpy: "Is he a doctor?"

Mr. Rummage: "Not sure. My wife and I were out looking for a used suitcase this weekend, and he was having a garage sale."

    Crocheting and needlework.
Notice the theme: repetitive fine motor skills requiring intense focus and attention to detail. Gets me out of my head.

    Also Pinterest. Don't judge me.
