What Every Practice Buyer Must Know/Do Before Closing
Before you sign on the dotted line, make sure you've done everything possible to make practice ownership a rewarding experience.

Join Ed Guiducci, JD, this Sunday night at 10 p.m. EDT and learn how to spot those small but vital things that could turn your dream into a nightmare.

This session will be all text, no audio.

Use the Rounds link in the main navigation bar to join the discussion.

If you can't attend, check the Rounds or Front Page of VIN, or next Tuesday's VIN This Week, for links to the transcript of the discussion.

VIN Survey: Share your Thoughts on Pet Medication Sales Practices
Traditionally, pharmacy income from prescription and non-prescription veterinary products has been an important revenue stream for some veterinary practices.

How has the growing availability of veterinary pharmaceuticals through online and local retailers impacted your practice, patients, and clients?

This very SHORT and IMPORTANT survey needs your input.

All individual responses will be kept confidential.

The results of the survey will be shared openly with all within the profession who desire insights into these and related questions.

Why Haven't I Gotten a Response to my Message Board Post yet?
The VIN consultants/editors make every effort to make sure you have a response within 48 hours (usually much sooner) of posting, but sometimes things don't go as planned.

An automated system and the wonderful VIN Representative Team monitor and track the age of threads needing a response. Posting a reply to your own unanswered discussion to refresh the thread is often counterproductive, as this will make a thread look "newer" to the system than it actually is.

If it's been more than 48 hours since you started your discussion, please email feedback@vin.com to let us know.

To get the most from your posts:
Read the transcript of this Rounds session presented by VINner Kim Schiller, DVM, ABVP.

If you have any questions contact membership services or email to feedback@vin.com.

Morphea-like lesion following topical endectocide application in a cat
Localized (morphea-like) scleroderma was diagnosed in a 3-year-old intact male Persian cat that developed a nonpruritic, well-demarcated alopecic plaque a few days after topical application of a 'spot-on' solution containing praziquantel and emodepside. The lesion occurred at the site of application at the dorsal cervical region, and was characterized histologically by fibrosing dermatitis.

Dextrocardia and Situs inversus in a dog
Dextrocardia and Situs inversus (DSI) is a rare congenital anomaly characterized by mirror-image of the normal anatomic arrangement of all internal organs. In dogs, the majority of reported cases were associated with Kartagener's syndrome (KS), but our patient had no evidences of this cilliary disorder. Besides radiography and ultrasound examination, the ECG can be of great value to diagnose DSI as demonstrated in this report.

Inbreeding in the Thoroughbred horse
Changes in the inbreeding coefficient, F, in the Thoroughbred horse over the past 45 years have been investigated by genotyping 467 Thoroughbred horses (born between 1961 and 2006) using the Illumina Equine SNP50 bead chip, which comprises 54 602 SNPs uniformly distributed across the equine genome.

Differentials for chronic anemia in an American Pit Bull terrier; Testing for Babesiosis
If you are looking for the organism, capillary blood films are often the best because parasitized cells sludge out in the periphery. You can nick an ear and squeeze out a few drops of blood to make blood films.

Mastectomy to treat necrotic mastitis in a dog (photographs)
We trimmed away anything that was black or did not bleed. A lot of tissue was removed, including the entire nipple. There was a lot of black tissue in there!

Endoscopic diagnosis of a dog with esophageal cysts
Those are interesting findings. You've certainly found something outside the ordinary!
