Lost but not Forgotten -- Finding Past Clinical Updates
A clinical update from the VIN Front Page has piqued your interest but you didn't have time to read it and forgot to add it to your MyStuff. How will you ever find it again?

No sweat! Clinical Updates from the Journals and Message Boards are archived so you can easily find them later! Learn how.

VIN is Colleagues Helping Colleagues
VIN isn't a "you pays your dues and you gets an instant answer" world. VIN is VINners -- members, VIN Reps, Associate Editors, and Consultants -- helping each other with their cases and their lives.

If you have experience and knowledge that can help your fellow VINners with cases, practice management, and life, speak up!

Some tips to help you get started:

We're all in this together, and we learn from each other.

Treatment of dilated cardiomyopathy in rabbits with mesenchymal stem cell transplantation and platelet-rich plasma
The MSC group showed improvements in all parameters assessed, while the PRP group showed significantly impaired heart function. Histopathology of the heart revealed that the MSC group displayed the lowest number of lesions, while rabbits in the MSC+PRP, saline, and PRP groups had steadily advancing lesions.

A welfare assessment scoring system for working equids—A method for identifying at risk populations and for monitoring progress of welfare enhancement strategies (trialed in Egypt)
Mules who pulled goods by cart had the highest prevalence of mistreatment-induced lesions at 36.7% (significantly greater than the other species and other work types. From a positive perspective, horses used for riding or transporting people by cart (e.g., most often animals working in tourist areas) were most likely to be in a healthy physical state (over 85% for both categories; significantly greater than other species and other work types).

Do collar-mounted predation deterrents restrict wandering in pet domestic cats?
Owners may use a CatBib or Birdsbesafe collar cover to curtail their cat's hunting behaviour, but curtailing roaming behaviour needs another solution. Confinement, although unpopular, remains the most effective option where unwanted roaming is a problem.

Is It Time To Rethink The Concept Of Zoos?
I can tell you that people who work in zoos (even the ticket takers, custodial staff, and train drivers) would lie down in traffic for these animals...

Buying Clinic From Long-Time Employer: Why Practice Valuation, Separate Lawyer, And Separate Accountant Are So Important
It does amaze me how many posts come up asking, "Do I really need a valuation/attorney/CPA?" We chastise clients all the time for trying home remedies and using non-veterinarians for free (often wrong) veterinary advice, and tell them to go to the professionals who know what they are doing. But when we are the clients, it seems some of us want to do what we tell our clients not to.
