Impact of queen infection on kitten susceptibility to different strains of Bartonella henselae
This study demonstrated that young kittens can easily be infected with a different strain of B. henselae at a very young age, even in the presence of maternal antibodies, underlining the importance of flea control in pregnant queens and young kittens.

Osseous associated cervical spondylomyelopathy at the C2-C3 articular facet joint in 11 dogs

Assessment of v-gel supraglottic airway device placement in cats performed by inexperienced veterinary students
Thirty-three cats were randomly assigned to receive an endotracheal tube (ETT group) or a v-gel SGAD (v-gel group) after induction of general anaesthesia. The v-gel group required less propofol, less time, and fewer attempts to secure the cats' airway.

Non-profit effect on spay/neuter
Reviving this thread and looking for people that altered their spay/neuter protocol. I am getting clobbered by 2 low-cost spay/neuter clinics... one is 501(c)3. My surgery stands idle 95% of the time excluding dentals.

I am looking for advice on instituting a low-cost spay/neuter/dental program. The latter will still require anesthesia and COHAT.

Funny Things Clients Say
Just had an appointment with three women and their young, male, neutered cat. One of the women was concerned that his neuter surgery had not been done properly because there was a lump "back there" and he didn't like it when she squeezed it. I examined him and could find nothing amiss. I asked her to show me what she was doing. She proceeded to grab his prepuce and squeeze! I told the that she was squeezing his penis and that she should stop. The other two women then burst out laughing. Poor cat!

Small Rodent Review 2016
June 22 – August 6, 2016

Small rodents are commonly seen in private practice, and many veterinarians have a limited working knowledge of this species. This course is intended to provide an in depth overview of husbandry, medicine, and common disease presentations by species in order to allow veterinary staff to feel more comfortable with basic rodent diagnosis and treatment. Clinical symptoms, diagnosis, treatment options, and current considerations for prevention will be covered.

Exceptional Care for Cats - Improving the Experience for the Patient, the Client & the Clinical Team
August 1 - September 1, 2016

Handling cats in practice can be challenging. In order to work harmoniously with cats, we want to try to look at things from their point-of-view. The cat is a species that has evolved with a social structure different than ours. Cats are able to function completely efficiently as a solitary creature, yet have complex and changing social interactions. Being both predators and prey affects how they respond in a clinic setting.
