VIN Community Quick Polls
The first of these new one-question polls (some serious, some not so serious) launched on Monday, April 21. Over 1,400 VINners cast their votes for their preferred euthanasia solution for dogs and cats.

Voice your opinion! You'll find the Quick Poll on the left side of the front page under the Daily Pearl. This week's question is "How do you view local nonprofit clinics near you?"

Read the discussion to see how the idea came about and how you can contribute ideas for new polls.

Wanted: Inspiration!
"Today between 11 and 12:30 I had four walk-ins, and I went from feeling awesome and coping to feeling frustrated, angry, upset, distraught, and almost in tears. Three of those walk-ins were new clients, and I was prepared to see only two of them.

I am struggling with clients' attitudes to vets, that we are there at their "beck and call", and for me, I find that attitude disrespectful. I don't do that to others, so it upsets me when it is done to me.

So, I need a quote, a paragraph, a reminder... to put things into perspective for me, to allow me to cope with this."

A cohort study of equine laminitis in Great Britain 2009-2011: estimation of disease frequency and description of clinical signs in 577 cases
Laminitis occurred in all limbs, but most commonly affected the forelimbs bilaterally (53.5%) and was most severe in the front feet. The most common clinical signs were increased digital pulses, difficulty turning, and a short, stilted gait at walk.

Extemporaneous compounding in veterinary practice: a New Zealand perspective
Of these 89, 33 (37%) compounded in their practice. Of the 33 compounding professionals, 3 (9%) compounded daily for animals under their care; 11 (34%) weekly, 18 (54%) monthly; and 1 (3%) compounded yearly. Compounding was done by 29/33 (88%) veterinarians, 16/33 (48%) veterinary nurses, or 6/33 (18%) others. It was carried out due to the unavailability of commercial products, or the need for dose adjustment to ease administration or improve compliance.

Clients Are Looking For A Service Dog To Assist A Child With Autism
The program dog will be trained, screened for health issues, and ready to work having already survived the attrition that is such a reality in bringing these dogs to working maturity. Who owns the records?
"A client brought a dog in for an examination and paid for it. The dog is owned by a breeder that was going to sell the dog to them. Dog got a clean bill of health and now the breeder says she wants to charge more because of it and get it another home.

Breeder has requested a copy of the records, but the people that paid for the exam don't want her to have a copy since she won't adopt to them...they think she is trying to get them to pay more for the dog which is an older dog.

Do I have to give the breeder a copy of the records she did not pay for?"
