Recently Added:

Beta.vin.com helps speed the testing and release of new features which are destined for VIN.com.

Here are a few of the most recently added features on Beta.vin.com:

  • MyCalculations
The new MyCalculations tool makes it easy to save calculations you've done with the VIN suite of calculators and attach them to patient records saved in your MyCalculations for quick reference.
  • MyActivities
Track all of your message board and search activities in one place with the new and improved MyActivities feature. To open the MyActivities window, look at the bottom (footer) of the page for the MyActivities link or simply type ‘Ctrl -M’ and a “My Activity” window will open.
  • New login page
The Login page on Beta.vin.com offers more help, and a different look, but VIN Security has NOT changed.

If you want the latest and greatest and want to be on the "bleeding edge" of where VIN is going, make Beta.vin.com your VIN Homepage.

Uveitic glaucoma in the horse
Glaucoma is a serious complication of anterior uveitis that can result in significant ocular discomfort and loss of vision. As glaucoma is insidious and mostly asymptomatic until late in the course of disease, it is often undiagnosed.

Epidemiology and clinical manifestations of mucormycosis
Mucormycosis is an emerging angioinvasive infection caused by the ubiquitous filamentous fungi of the Mucorales order of the class of Zygomycetes. Mucormycosis has emerged as the third most common invasive mycosis in order of importance after candidiasis and aspergillosis in patients with hematological and allogeneic stem cell transplantation.

Should veterinarians in general practice be doing advanced procedures when specialists are available?
I have nothing against specialists and some of my closest colleagues are specialists. But if GP's are doing many of the same procedures as specialists do we need specialists?

Treating a cat with FeLV infection and nonregenerative anemia; use of lymphocyte t-cell immunomodulators in FeLV and FIV infections
This owner is wonderful and willing, but she is semi-limited on funds, and her goal is to keep the cat alive for another 6 months (at least) until her son can come home from Afganistan, since it's his cat. I know this cat became anemic over time since he was so well adjusted when I first saw him.

Removing dead fetuses in cattle after dystocia: fetotomy and cesarean section techniques; link to visual guide to bovine reproduction
I know that it is better not to do c-sections in these cases due to contamination of the abdominal cavity, but I also have a terrible time trying to do a fetotomy in there.

The VINDEX contains links to the most used and useful (or hard to find) VIN features.

The VINDEX is located on the upper right side of the Front Page, just below the navigation bar and is a handy tool to help you find many of the most popular VIN features. But if you really want to see the magic, from any page on VIN hold down your Ctrl button and push the “E” on your keyboard (Ctrl+E). So the next time you are looking for the VIN Bookstore or the calculator you used a few weeks ago, use the VINDEX.

Need Help?
If you ever feel lost trying to find your way around on VIN or overwhelmed by all there is to see and do, help is a click, email or phone call away!

Click Help on the VIN Main Navigation bar on almost every page to begin exploring the new and improved VIN Help Center.

A vet for the next The Bachelor?
I am trying to imagine where they will find a bunch of gorgeous women willing to throw themselves at your typical veterinarian. Sure he will be sweet, kind and caring - but definitely not your jet-setting rich bachelor that we normally see. He will work 50 - 60 hours per week, make only 65-90k a year, have high student debt, and come home covered in pee, poop, and other unmentionables.
