To feed or not to feed: Counterconditioning in the veterinary clinic
Feeding small amounts of nutritious treats to animals in the veterinary practice is often avoided because of the fear that such practices may increase the risk of aspiration pneumonia (AP) in animals that end up being sedated. However, no data support that assumption; indeed the opposite can be argued.

Effect of corneal contact lens wear on healing time and comfort post LGK for treatment of SCCEDs in boxers
The use of corneal bandage contact lenses significantly decreased median healing time, although there was no effect on subjective comfort score.

Cervical Vertebral Lesions in Equine Stenotic Myelopathy
The morphology and distribution of the lesions provide additional support for the previously proposed pathogenesis that developmental abnormalities with likely secondary biomechanical influences on the cervical spine contribute to equine cervical stenotic myelopathy.

Are There Any Inexpensive Treatment Suggestions For A Dog With Incompletely Excised Stage III-VI Oral Malignant Melanoma?
Phytonutrients are going to be your best bet. As this is a hospice patient, you don't have to be real exacting on balancing this diet. You can probably use what I generically feed to cancer patients, without worrying about balancing it.

Measurement Uncertainty Of A Smartphone-Based Point-Of-Care Hemoglobin Assay For Use In Dogs
Whenever you attend a presentation with regard to laboratory results, be sure to ask for an example of how the data obtained would affect a lab result with an example of the calculation! I would be reluctant to use the Smartphone haemoglobin, if I had a well validated point of care analyser available.

Has Anyone Used Solliquin For Anxiety In Pets?
My dog has not completed the full 30 day trial, but I am seeing improvement already.

Workup For Vaginal Bleeding In A Ovariectomized Bitch That Also Has Vestibulovaginal Stenosis

OSHA & Practice Safety
April 4 - July 7, 2016

This course is designed for the practice owner, manager or administrator who desires to understand OSHA's standards as well as practical ways to implement them in a veterinary practice. We attempt to avoid debating the merits of any particular requirement and focus on how to achieve compliance! This course will cover ALL aspects of a hospital safety program, not just the Hazard Communication Standard.

Introduction to Chemotherapy in Veterinary Medicine
May 2 - June 2, 2016

This course will provide an overview of chemotherapy in veterinary medicine. Specific topics covered will include the origin of chemotherapy use in both human and veterinary medicine, chemotherapy safety, chemotherapy side effects, and cancer patient management. Cancer-specific chemotherapy protocols will be summarized along with the associated outcome data from our veterinary literature.

Visit the CE Participant Resource Center to learn the basics of online CE, how to find your course area, CE participation requirements, and much more!

To get the most from your CE course, plan to attend a practice session before your course begins. Practice sessions are scheduled for the same days and times each week for your convenience:

  • Tues. afternoons 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. ET
  • Weds. evenings 10:00 - 11:00 p.m. ET
  • Thurs. evenings 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. ET
