Effect of feeding a weight loss food beyond a caloric restriction period on body composition and resistance to weight gain in dogs
Results suggested that feeding overweight dogs the test food caused weight loss and improvements in body condition during the weight-maintenance phase, possibly because the food composition improved energy metabolism.

Survival time of dogs with splenic hemangiosarcoma treated by splenectomy with or without adjuvant chemotherapy: 208 cases (2001-2012)
Clinical stage was strongly associated with prognosis for dogs with splenic hemangiosarcoma. Chemotherapy was effective in prolonging survival time during the early portion of the follow-up period. Combinations of doxorubicin-based conventional protocols and cyclophosphamide-based metronomic protocols appeared to be more effective than either type of chemotherapy alone, but prolongations in survival time resulting from current protocols were modest.

Doxycycline Leads to Sterility and Enhanced Killing of Female Onchocerca volvulus Worms in an Area With Persistent Microfilaridermia After Repeated Ivermectin Treatment: A Randomized, Placebo-Controlled, Double-Blind Trial
Free Full Text

Targeting the Wolbachia in O. volvulus is effective in clearing microfilariae in the skin of onchocerciasis patients with persistent microfilaridermia and in enhanced killing of adult worms after repeated standard ivermectin treatment. Strategies can now be developed that include doxycycline to control onchocerciasis in areas where infections persist despite the frequent use of ivermectin.

Polycythemia, Hypoglycemia, And Suspected Mediastinal Mass In A Dog
Theoretically, any tumor can cause any paraneoplastic syndrome. In my practice, about 3.5% of dogs will develop more than one type of neoplasm within one year of each other, so not as rare as one might think.

Advice For Helping Clients To Know When It Is Time To Euthanize Their Pets
I wonder whether I have been overly judgmental in the past, and how I can best advise owners in the future, particularly if they want hospice instead of euthanasia.

Why Would We Use The Oral Glucose Absorption Test For Horses With Chronic Weight Loss?
The absorption test tells us whether the primary issue is that the animal can't absorb the nutrients it is ingesting, or if it is losing them somewhere else.

The False Economy Of Not Doing Full Mouth Extractions In FIV Positive Cats That Have Stomatitis
We tried *everything* for these cats, costs be damned. But nothing worked like full mouth extractions.
