Conjunctival squamous cell carcinoma in a reindeer (Rangifer tarandus tarandus)
Follow-up examination at 12 months postsurgery did not reveal recurrence of this neoplasm. Conjunctival squamous cell carcinoma has not been reported previously in reindeer and seems to have similar characteristics to the one existing in bovine species.
Cutaneous metastasis of transitional cell carcinoma in 12 dogs
Although TCC could have spread to skin by direct extension or lymphatic or vascular dissemination, the proximity of most cutaneous metastases to the vulva or prepuce raises the additional possibility of transepidermal spread through urine-scalded skin.
Epidemic of salmonellosis in passerine birds in Switzerland with spillover to domestic cats
Isolation of the same serovar from the dead birds and ill cats, along with the overlapping results of the pulsed field electrophoresis analysis for all the animal species, confirmed a spillover from birds to cats through predation.

Ketofol (Ketamine/Propofol) Anesthetic Induction For Cat With Second-Degree Atrioventricular Block
My favorite way of incorporating ketamine into the induction involves the combination of propofol and ketamine, which has received the name of ketofol in the pediatric human anesthesia world. Here is how I use these two drugs in combination after premedication.
Should We Board A Dog That Has Contagious Sarcoptic Mange?
If we avoid all potential of risk in our practice lives, we need to lock the front door, go home, and have a frosty beverage. The issue is balancing of risks...
Using Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) To Assess Suitability Of Doxycycline Treatment For A Dog With A Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus pseudintermedius (MRSP) Pyoderma
I learned a good thing from Dr. Mark Papich. The breakpoints used for doxycycline are wrong, and so some Staph may be reported as sensitive when they are really resistant. You want your MIC to be about 1 ug/ml. If it is higher, it probably will fail.
Treatment And Prognosis For Dog With Elevated Liver And Kidney Values Caused By Ibuprofen Toxicosis
You need to calculate ins and outs; it is hard, but it is necessary. Fluids only need to be "aggressive" if the losses are "aggressive." Fluids are not a poor man's dialysis.

Boundaries I fired a client last week because she was angry that I took some time off - bringing my total, including weekends of being off call - to two and a half weeks. I'll make a few hundred dollars less, but I got to see my first little sister (from Big Brothers/Big Sisters) get married. My boundaries are all about putting my energy in the places where I feel it is important.

The VINDEX contains links to the most used and useful (or hard to find) VIN features. The VINDEX is located on the upper right side of the Front Page, just below the navigation bar and is a handy tool to help you find many of the most popular VIN features. But if you really want to see the magic, from any page on VIN hold down your Ctrl button and push the “E” on your keyboard (Ctrl+E). So the next time you are looking for the VIN Bookstore or the calculator you used a few weeks ago, use the VINDEX.
