Description:
In this course, we will discuss how to prepare and stabilize GDV patients for surgery. Variable degrees of gastric malpositioning will be covered as well as logical and effective therapies for after-surgery care.

To earn a certificate of completion the participant must complete all learning modules and score 80% or better on the end-of-course test. Completion of the course will take a minimum of 55 minutes. Participants must complete the participation requirements by June 30, 2023 to be eligible for a certificate.

Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of the course, the participant should be able to
  • To review relevant pathophysiology of GDV
  • To review currently available diagnostic tests for GDV
  • To review logical & effective perioperative therapies for GDV


Level and Prerequisites: This basic VIN CE Self Study course is open for enrollment to Veterinarians interested in treating GDV patients. This course is open to VIN members only.
Accreditation: This non-interactive course is approved for 1 hour of continuing education credit by RACE for veterinarians. (RACE 20-843074)
