The Donkey Welfare Symposium is brought to you in Collaboration with Peaceful Valley Donkey Rescue. Peaceful Valley Donkey Rescue strives to provide solutions to the many problems that plague these wonderful creatures by providing ethical stewardship over the funds that are necessary to fulfill this goal.

Peaceful Valley Donkey Rescue

Due to the global situation with COVID-19, the Symposium will be virtual live and interactive (Pacific Standard Time); it will count for CE credit. Recording will be available for viewing after the event.

The theme of the 9th Annual Donkey Welfare Symposium is "Donkey Nutrition and Dysnutrition" seeking insights into the health and wellbeing of donkeys and mules as they relate to nutrition best practices.  The conference will feature speakers with a wide range of expertise to highlight the implications and prevention of dysnutrition of donkeys and mules.  The conference is aimed at a mixed audience including donkey and mule enthusiasts, professionals working with donkeys and mules such as veterinarians and members of sanctuaries and rescue organizations, and also the general public who want to know more about donkeys and mules.

During the lunchtime on Sunday, November 14, 2021, there will be an Open Forum on Donkey Welfare Concerns.

This is an activity added as an option for lunchtime on Sunday November 14th.

Those who would like to submit a topic, please follow the instructions below.

Submission of topics:

  1. The topic title
  2. The name and affiliation of the presenter
  3. A paragraph (maximum of 200 words) with the description of the topic.

A person may submit more than one topic. As there might be several topics submitted, we will choose a certain number to ensure we stay on time for the afternoon sessions.

Deadline to submit topics are November 8, 2021. If your topic gets chosen, will be notified by November 10th. The presentations should be short and cover what was in the paragraph submitted. The presentation of the topic will be timed and then open to discussion. All submissions can be submitted to svmcontinuinged@ucdavis.edu.
