Course Information:
If you have never held a scanhead…but always wanted to learn more about abdominal ultrasound…this course is for you. If you’ve watched scans being performed, or maybe helped during a cystocentesis and want to learn more…this course is for you. If you are doing scans, but need help with the “tough guys”, i.e., adrenals, pancreas or small bowel, this course will advance your knowledge base. No matter what skill level you are “What’s That? A Beginners Guide to the Complete VeterinaryAbdominal Ultrasound” will give you that confidence we all want. Using quick time videos to explain scanning techniques and over 160 ultrasound images of abdominal anatomy, Mr. Baker will guide you through the complete abdominal scan.

Learning Objectives: Upon completion of this course, the participant should be able to:
  • Learn knobology and methodology to perform the complete scan
  • Identify normal and abnormal abdominal ultrasound anatomy
  • Find and interrogate all abdominal viscera
Level and Prerequisites: This basic VSPN CE course will be open for enrollment to veterinarians, veterinary technicians/technologists, support staff, veterinary teams, etc. - actively interested in abdominal ultrasounds

RACE Accreditation: This program has been submitted (but is not yet approved) for 2 hours of continuing education credit in jurisdictions which recognize RACE approval.

Course Agenda:

Week 1 (Real Time Session August 2, 2023): What's That-Abdominal Ultrasound
Upon completion of this session, participants will be able to identify normal and abnormal ultrasound anatomy, be able to find and interrogate all abdominal viscera, and learn knobology and methodology to perform the complete scan.

Successful completion (scoring 80% or better) on the end-of-course test is required to earn a certificate of completion for the course. To learn more about the requirements for earning a CE certificate, please refer to Receiving Your CE Credit and Course Completion Certificate.

Course Materials: Course materials will be available in the course library prior to each Real Time Session.
Required Textbook(s): There is no required textbook for this course.
