Course Information:
This course provides a comprehensive understanding of feline kidney diseases, focusing on the latest research, diagnostic approaches, treatment strategies, and management techniques. It explores the evolving concepts and advancements in the field, equipping participants with updated knowledge to improve feline kidney disease management in the new decade.

Learning Objectives: Upon completion of this course, the participant should be able to:
  • Review the anatomy and physiology of feline kidneys, emphasizing their role in maintaining overall health.
  • Understand the etiology and pathogenesis of various feline kidney diseases, including chronic kidney disease (CKD), acute kidney injury (AKI), and congenital renal disorders.
  • Explore the risk factors associated with feline kidney diseases and their impact on disease progression.
  • Examine the principles of staging and grading feline kidney diseases to facilitate appropriate treatment and management decisions.
  • Review the current therapeutic approaches for feline kidney diseases, including medical management, dietary interventions, and supportive care.
  • Discuss the emerging therapies and treatment modalities being researched and developed for feline kidney diseases.
  • Explore the importance of multimodal management strategies, including fluid therapy, nutritional support, and monitoring parameters in feline kidney disease patients.
Level and Prerequisites: This intermediate VSPN CE course will be open for enrollment to veterinarians, veterinary technicians/technologists, support staff, veterinary teams, etc. - actively interested in Understanding Feline Kidney Diseases.

Week 1 (Real Time Session September 19): New Thoughts for a New Decade
In this session, we will discuss exploring the evolving concepts and advancements in the field, equipping participants with updated knowledge to improve feline kidney disease management in the new decade.
