Course Information:
Blood transfusions for the emergent patient may not happen often in general practice. When it is needed, the veterinary technician needs to know how to set up equipment and perform lab tests associated with transfusions. This self study course provides a good basic review of transfusion medicine. This course was originally offered as a live webinar via drip.vet (part of the VIN family).

Learning Objectives: Upon completion of this course, the participant should be able to:
  • Review various blood products
  • Review auto-transfusions
  • Review current practices of how to administer blood

Level and Prerequisites: This intermediate VSPN CE non-interactive course is focused toward veterinary technicians or support staff actively interested in canine-feline triage.
RACE Credit Approval: “This program has been RACE approved for 1 hour of continuing education credit for veterinary technicians/technologists in jurisdictions that recognize RACE approval.” (#20-950605)

Successful completion (scoring 80% or better) on the end-of-course test is required to earn a certificate of completion for the course. To learn more about the requirements for earning a CE certificate, please refer to Receiving Your CE Credit and Course Completion Certificate.
