Learning Objectives: Upon completion of this course, the participant should be able to:
  • Understand the importance of demand forecasting and purchase planning in maintaining optimal inventory levels within a veterinary practice
  • Acquire knowledge of best practices for receiving, inspecting, and recording inventory to ensure accuracy and integrity

Level and Prerequisites: This basic VSPN CE course will be open for enrollment to veterinarians, veterinary technicians/technologists, practice managers, supervisors, and practice leaders support staff, veterinary teams, etc. - actively interested in inventory management.

RACE Accreditation: TThis program has been RACE approved for 4.5 hours of continuing education credit for veterinarians and veterinary technicians/technologists in jurisdictions that recognize RACE approval. (20-1179950)

VHMA Accreditation: TThis course has been approved by the VHMA for CVPM credit. (24-15).

Course Agenda:

Week 1 (Real Time Session June 6): The Significance of Inventory Management
In this session, participants will uncover the significance of inventory management, grasp the diverse responsibilities entrusted to an inventory manager, and delve into the various tasks integral to effective management. We will cap off the session with a comprehensive overview of inventory dynamics, understanding the rhythm and flow crucial to optimizing inventory in your practice.

Week 2 (Real Time Session June 13): The Art of Reordering
In this dynamic session, participants will delve into the intricacies of setting reorder points, utilizing reorder flags, determining optimal order quantities, and streamlining the ordering process for veterinary inventory management. Additionally, they will explore effective strategies for organizing inventory to enhance accessibility and turnover, empowering them to implement efficient inventory management practices in their veterinary practices.

Week 3 (Real Time Session June 20): Receiving and Selling
In this session, participants will master the art of inventory receiving while gaining insight into fundamental pricing strategies and accurate inventory selling techniques tailored for veterinary practices. Additionally, participants will discover invaluable tips for maintaining accuracy within the practice management system, ensuring operational efficiency and profitability.
