Course Information:
Retaining team members is one of the biggest challenges the veterinary field is facing right now. This course will help to provide insight into what it takes to attract great talent, how to develop a process for coaching, feedback, and reviews; and how to keep team members from feeling underutilized by working toward progressive goals to help develop leaders in the practice.

The recruiting and selection process will look at the “how, what, where, when, and who” for proven tools in finding and selecting the right candidate for placement in a hospital. The onboarding process addresses how to integrate and welcome new employees. This section also stresses phase training and written training programs that are important in the onboarding process. Coaching sessions are major areas that help develop our team, but we first must learn to use the tools before we share the tools. Performance reviews, constructive feedback, communication training, and financial increases are defined and detailed. Tools on how to engage and motivate employees, identify, and manage personality styles, address job enrichment, and successfully transition employees to practice leaders in a management role. Lastly, exit interviews are discussed including legalities, takeaway points, and how to analyze information and decipher legitimate or invalid remarks.
