Level and Prerequisites: This basic course will be open to veterinarians, veterinary technicians/technologists, support staff, veterinary teams, etc. - actively interested in social media for the veterinary practice.

Course Description:
Living in a social media age, we know that social media is a prime part of our client’s lives. Social Media with Style seeks to understand different social media types and gives us a solid understanding of how social media reaches clients. I seek to give you some rules of engagement, some lessons on timing and personalization. I will discuss the importance of telling a story with your media. I discuss how to get and keep client engagement. We will talk about social media calendars, budgeting, content creation, reach maximization and metrics.

Week 1 (Real Time Session August 7): Social Media Overview
Objectives: Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to
  • Understand the potential impact of social media on your practice
  • Know social media platforms
  • Know the positives and negatives associated with each platform
  • Identify the impact of individual social media platforms in your practice
Week 2 (Real Time Session August 14): Content Creation for Social Media
Objectives: Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to
  • Review content types
  • Understand content creation tips and tricks
  • Create content calendars
Week 3 (Real Time Session August 21): Post and Content Hierarchy
Objectives: Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to
  • Review post hierarchy
  • Review content hierarchy
  • Understand viral posting
  • Understand storytelling and brand creation
Week 4 (Real Time Session August 28): Social Media Budgets and Paid Advertising
Objectives: Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to
  • Create a social media budget
  • Create paid advertising
  • Maximize ad budgets
  • Monitor and maximize advertising metrics

About the Instructor:
Kelly Lynn Cronin is a twenty-five year veteran of the veterinary field. She holds a Veterinary Technician Specialty in emergency and critical care, a Masters of Business Administration and a Professional in Human Resources Certification. She has had the opportunity to lead a variety of veterinary teams in a variety of clinics from large emergency teams to small day practice teams. She is responsible for setting the pricing structure and monitoring pricing for multiple veterinary hospitals, for leading the hospital group in human resources, staffing, budgeting, contracts, benefits management, inventory and special events. She has consulted on veterinary topics for a variety of hospitals including small animal, mixed practice, specialty and emergency clinics. She has spoken both nationally and internationally on management, marketing, human resources, starting clinics, inventory, emergency and critical care and a wide variety of other topics.

  1. Enrollment qualifications: VIN CE courses are open to VIN member and non-member veterinarians. Veterinarians enrolling in a VSPN CE course must be a VIN member. Veterinary support staff must be a VSPN member to enroll in a VSPN CE or a VIN CE course open to VSPN member enrollment.
