Level and Prerequisites: This basic course is geared toward veterinary practice managers, owners and supervisors who wish to take their dentistry practice to the next level. They will learn ways to improve client compliance and education, marketing, pricing, and staff training in regards to the dental component of their practices.
VSPN CE Course: Open to veterinarians, veterinary technicians/technologists, support staff, veterinary teams, etc. This course has been RACE approved for veterinarians and veterinary technicians/technologists. (22-31959) This course has been approved by VHMA for CVPM credit. (VHMA program # 15-19)

Course Description:
Almost every patient that comes through the front door of your practice is a potential dental patient. Statistics show that over 80% of dogs and 70% of cats over 2 years of age have some type of dental disease. However, many practices struggle with filling the dental table. This course will give you ideas and methods to not only fill the tables but to offer outstanding dental care for your patients and to create strong bonds with your clients.

Week 1 (Real Time Session April 17): The Importance of Oral Health
Objectives: Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to Week 2 (Real Time Session April 24): Dental Equipment, Maintenance and Pricing � Do It Right, Keep it Right and Price it Right!!
Objectives: Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to Week 3 (Real Time Session May 1): Staff Training � Teach �em Right!
Objectives: Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to Week 4 (Real Time Session May 8): Keep Clients Coming Back
Objectives: Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to Successful completion (scoring 80% or better) on the end-of-course test is required to earn a certificate of completion for the course.

About the Instructor:
Mary L. Berg, BS, LATG, RVT, VTS (Dentistry) received her B.S. in Biology/Microbiology from South Dakota State University, her A.S. in Laboratory Animal Science from Redlands Community College, and her A.S. in Veterinary Technology from St. Petersburg College. She is a Charter member of the Academy of Veterinary Dental Technicians and received her Veterinary Technician Specialty in Dentistry in June 2006. Mary worked in research for over 25 years, specializing in on products aimed at improving oral health of companion animals and continues to work with companies to evaluate the efficacy of their products. In addition to her research background, she was the practice manager and dental specialist at a general practice for 8 years, taught veterinary technology for 2 years and is currently the president of Beyond the Crown Veterinary Education, a veterinary dental consulting service. Mary currently is serving as the Past President of the NAVTA, treasurer of the AVDT and the President the KVTA. She has authored or co-authored over 75 publications including publications in the Journal of Dental Research, the Veterinary Technician Journal, the NAVTA journal and other publications as well as a speaker and wet lab instructor at numerous state and national conferences.

  1. Enrollment qualifications: VIN CE courses are open to VIN member and non-member veterinarians. Veterinarians enrolling in a VSPN CE course must be a VIN member. Veterinary support staff must be a VSPN member to enroll in a VSPN CE or a VIN CE course open to VSPN member enrollment.
