Level and Prerequisites: This basic course will be open to veterinarians interested in the handling of hazardous drugs (both antineoplastic and non-antineoplastic).
VIN CE Course: Open to veterinarians. This course is approved by RACE for veterinarians. (RACE 22-33174)

Course Information:
This course will walk through the USP General Chapter <800> - Handling Hazardous Drugs in the Healthcare Setting. Session one will provide an overview of the standard and explain the various requirements within it. Session two will focus on applying the standard to your practice setting and how to be compliant.

Objectives: Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to Successful completion (scoring 80% or better) on the end-of-course test is required to earn a certificate of completion for the course. Required Textbook: About the Presenter:
Lauren Eichstadt Forsythe graduated from the University of Findlay, College of Pharmacy in May 2015. Following completion of her PharmD degree, Dr. Forsythe completed a one year veterinary pharmacy residency at Purdue University's Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH). As part of this residency, Dr. Forsythe taught compounding to pharmacy students through a hands-on course, taught didactic CE to veterinarians on compounding, and spent a large portion of her time compounding medications necessary for treating patients of the VTH. She also is involved with research surrounding compounded products and has written home study CE courses for veterinarians and pharmacists on compounding.

  1. Enrollment qualifications: VIN CE courses are open to VIN member and non-member veterinarians. Veterinarians enrolling in a VSPN CE course must be a VIN member. Veterinary support staff must be a VSPN member to enroll in a VSPN CE or a VIN CE course open to VSPN member enrollment.
  2. Each enrollee must be able to receive emails from @vspn.org and @vin.com addresses. Email is our major form of communication with participants; personal emails are highly recommended rather than clinic/hospital email addresses.
  3. Each person is individually responsible for his/her own registration. To ensure that all information received is secure and correct, please do not enroll for a course on behalf of another individual.
