Course Information:
In this course, we will discuss health risks associated with obesity in dogs and cats; nutritional assessments for obese and overweight patients, including dietary history, body condition score, and muscle condition score; and a step-by-step approach to the overweight or obese patient. We will also discuss case examples.

To earn a certificate of completion the participant must complete all learning modules and score 80% or better on the end-of-course test. Completion of the course will take a minimum of 145 minutes. Participants must complete the participation requirements by December 31, 2021 to be eligible for a certificate.

Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of the course, the participant should be able to
  • identify health risks associated with obesity in dogs and cats.
  • review the nutritional assessment process for the obese or overweight patient.
  • discuss a step-by-step approach to the obese or overweight patient.

Level and Prerequisites: This basic VIN CE self-study course is open for enrollment to veterinarians actively interested in canine and feline nutrition. This course is open to VIN members only.
Accreditation: This non-interactive course is approved for 2.5 hours of continuing education credit by RACE for veterinarians. (RACE 20-814434)
