Course Information:
The joints in the spine can be susceptible to the effects of trauma or overuse. The nerves throughout the body come out between the spinal vertebra, a stuck joint, spinal muscle, or ligament inflammation can all compromise and cause the nerves not to send proper signals from those tissues to the brain. Chiropractic therapy works to affect the nervous system. This is done through the various nerves that go to and from the joints. Treatment consists of finding a joint or several joints not moving in the full range of motion. A chiropractic adjustment directs a specific force into that joint to get it unstuck. This allows the nerves surrounding the joint to fire correctly and the joint to move more freely.

This course will give you the information to get started in chiropractic medicine including a review of anatomy, how to interpret gait analysis, palpation, and finally adjustment. It will discuss commonalities of therapy including acupuncture and laser therapy, and how to educate clients on the unique needs of patients, whether athletic or couch-potatoes.

Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of the course, the participant should be able to
  • understand spinal and axial skeleton anatomy and how it pertains to chiropractic theories.
  • understand the basics of gait analysis, palpation, and chiropractic adjusting.
  • understand the basics of combinations of therapeutic modalities such as laser, acupuncture, and laser therapy.
  • educate clients on the process, maintenance, and special circumstances, such as athletes, geriatric, and less active or injured patients.
