00:00:36.000 --> 00:00:37.500
Let's try a case.

00:00:38.000 --> 00:00:49.500
You’ve just diagnosed a canine patient with diabetes. Your initial search brings thousands of results, which can be narrowed using the filters in the right column of the Search page.

00:00:50.000 --> 00:01:03.500
A new diabetic is going to need insulin. Using the Drug Information tab, find information about the types of insulin available and details about the one you choose to prescribe.

00:01:05.000 --> 00:01:16.500
To learn more about diabetes, select the Diseases tab and do a search or browse the table of contents.

00:01:18.500 --> 00:01:34.500
Once the pet is stable and ready for discharge, the client will need to know how to continue care at home. Print an article for the owner or e-mail them a link to appropriate client information sheets.

00:01:36.000 --> 00:01:41.500
On the initial physical exam, you noted that your patient had a ruptured cranial cruciate ligament.

00:01:42.000 --> 00:01:47.500
Now that it’s stable, what do you need to know to anesthetize the patient safely?

00:01:48.500 --> 00:01:56.000
If you need to review the anatomy of the canine stifle prior to surgery, look no further than the 3D Anatomy tool.

00:02:02.000 --> 00:02:15.500
Are there overtly visible conditions that may be caused by diabetes in a dog? A search of the video collections will show you a VINner’s patient that developed a debilitating manifestation of the disease.

00:02:16.000 --> 00:02:28.500
Now that you’ve found all these resources, you’d still like help from the VIN consultants. Click here for step-by-step instructions on how to post your case to the message boards.

00:02:29.000 --> 00:03:05.000
Pick the most appropriate specialty, a discussion title, enter your patient’s signalment, and open a posting window. Many folders have posting instructions; follow these to get the most from your post. Enter your history, exam findings, diagnostics, and so forth, then post your message. Make sure that you’re subscribed so that you’ll receive email notifications when someone responds in your discussion.

00:03:05.500 --> 00:03:12.000
Use MyActivities to find your case discussion or your previous search results.

00:03:15.500 --> 00:03:31.000
Once you’ve posted your case, add it to your MyStuff to find it quickly again, and mark it with a star so it appears in the MyFavorites tab of your personal VINdex.

00:03:32.000 --> 00:03:48.000
Within the suite of calculators, use the filter to narrow the options. Use the glucose curve plotter to record your patient’s data and save for comparison to later curves.

00:03:49.500 --> 00:04:01.000
When you return to one of the tabs during the session, you’ll find it just as you left it. To return to the home page for that tab, click the gold Home icon.

00:04:02.500 --> 00:04:08.500
As always, send your feedback to help make VIN better for the entire community.

00:04:09.500 --> 00:04:21.000
