Create and Append Your Signature

Use your Boards Preferences settings to add a personal touch to your message board postings by creating a signature that can be manually or automatically added to some or all posts.

There are two ways you can create a signature for your profile and adjust your settings to have it appear automatically each time you post on the message boards.

1. From the main Message Boards page, click on the Personalize your Boards link under Options at the bottom of the Select Board/Folder list
   • Under the 'Board Posting Options' tab, click on the Signature link in item #1 to create your signature
   • Type in your signature as you'd like it to appear and click UPDATE (see the guidelines at the bottom of this page)
   • Use the Back button in the MyVIN Console (not your browser's back button) to return to the Boards Preferences page
   • Select the Boards Posting Options tab and check the box under Append My Signature to have it automatically added to your message board posts
2. From MyVIN, click on Preferences, then Signature (to create your signature) or Boards (to append it to your posts)
   • In the Signature Preferences window, type in your signature as you'd like it to appear and click UPDATE (see the guidelines at the bottom of this page)
   • Use the Back button in the MyVIN Console (not your browser's back button) to return to your MyVIN window
   • Click on Preferences, then Boards
   • Select the Boards Posting Options tab and check the box under Append My Signature to have it automatically added to your message board posts

Guidelines for Signatures

There are a few guidelines to keep in mind to make sure your signature is in keeping with the VIN policy on commercialism.

• The signature area should not be used to solicit clients for a business, product or service. 
• Some VINners like to add a joke or a motivational quote to their signature line.
• If you'd like to share information about your hobbies, charitable organizations you belong to or causes you support, please feel free to create a thread in the 'Life Away From the Office' folder instead of adding it to your signature.
• If you are a VIN member who is affiliated with Industry please limit your signature file to your name, title and company name only.
