Clear Browser Cache

As you browse the internet, your computer creates temporary files for every site you visit.
All those temporary files stored in your cache take up space and can slow down your computer.
Clearing your cache can free up space on your computer's hard drive and improve its performance.

To clear your cache, follow the steps that apply to your browser:

Microsoft Edge
Windows Internet Explorer
Google Chrome

Microsoft Edge

  1. Click this icon  at the far right end of the browser toolbar.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Click Choose what to clear under Clear Browsing Data.
  4. Check the boxes next to Cookies and saved website data and Cached data and files (and any other items you want to clear).
  5. Click Clear.

Windows Internet Explorer 10 & 11 (IE10 & IE 11)

  1. Select Tools from the Main Menu bar or click the tools icon in the upper right corner of the window.
    •    From the Tools icon, click Safety.
    •    From the Tools menu, click Delete Browsing History.
  2. In the Delete Browsing History box, check Temporary Internet files and click the Delete button.
  3. Wait for the computer to complete the process, then click OK.

Windows Internet Explorer 9 (IE9)

  1. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options. The Internet Options box should open to the General tab.
  2. On the General tab, in the Browsing history section, click the Delete... button.
  3. In the Delete Browsing History box, select Temporary Internet files and click the Delete button.
  4. Wait for the computer to complete the process, then click OK.

Mozilla Firefox 

  1. Click the menu icon in the top right corner and then select Options.
  2. Select Advanced.
  3. Click on the Network tab.
  4. In the Cached Web Content section, click Clear Now.


  1. From the Tools Menu, select Clear recent history.
  2. From the Time range to clear: dropdown menu, select Everything
  3. Click Clear Now.

Google Chrome

  1. Click on this icon  in the far right corner of the browser toolbar.
  2. Point your cursor to More tools.
  3. Select Clear browsing data.
  4. In the "Clear browsing data" box, click the checkboxes for Cookies and other site and plug-in data and Cached images and files.
    Use the menu at the top to select the amount of data that you want to delete.
  5. Choose a time frame from the drop-down menu.
  6. Check the boxes for the types of information that you want to delete.
  7. Click Clear browsing data.

Apple Safari


  1. Click Develop
  2. Select Empty Caches

Note: If your Develop menu option is hidden, you'll need to make it visible:

  1. Click Safari.
  2. Select Preferences.
  3. Check the box next to Show Develop menu in menu bar.

Older versions (Mac)

  1. Click on the Safari menu on the top-left of the screen.
  2. Select Empty Cache...
  3. Click Empty.

  3. Select Clear History and Website Data.
  4. Select Clear.
