Using Homeopathic Medicine with Wildlife Trauma
2002 SAVMA Symposium
Shirley Casey

The use of homeopathic medicines to treat trauma is growing rapidly with a wide range of wildlife species, including birds, mammals, and herptiles. Licensed wildlife rehabilitators provide care for native wildlife that is injured, diseased, orphaned, or distressed in order that the animals may survive when released back to the wild. Applying classical homeopathic principles and using medicines to treat wildlife traumas has allowed rehabilitators to help these animals accelerate their recovery and release faster than with many conventional modalities. The speaker will describe how using homeopathy with wildlife is very different from working with domestic animals. Several successful cases using homeopathy with wildlife will also be presented.

The speaker, Shirley Casey of WildAgain Wildlife Rehabilitation in Evergreen, CO, presents regularly on the use of classical homeopathic first aid with wildlife at conferences and seminars around North America. She has published widely on this topic, including in the Journal of the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association, Homeopathy Today, and the Journal of Wildlife Rehabilitation. Several of their articles on holistic care for wildlife may be found at www.Ewildagain.org in the publication section. Shirley has been a wildlife rehabilitator since 1986.
