Welcome to the 2001 Waltham/OSU Symposium For the Treatment of Small Animal Diseases
Small Animal Ophthalmology Online Proceedings.

Objectives of the symposium:

Ophthalmology is a major part of daily small animal/exotic practice, but one where we as practitioners often feel uncomfortable with both our diagnostic and treatment expertise. These lectures are to help you understand the eye and its diseases, so you are better able to perform an ophthalmic examination and interpret the results. New diagnostic avenues are available to practitioners with the marketing of portable, less expensive equipment and these are discussed. Medical and surgical management of ophthalmic diseases are presented with emphasis on what you as a general practitioner can do, and what specialists can offer your clients. Special attention is given to Feline and Exotic animals, because they have unique ophthalmic conditions and because they are now a major component of most veterinary practices. The topic of what animals really see will better help you and your clients understand vision in our pets. Finally, since an ophthalmic examination involves living histopathology, we integrate the pathologic process with the living patient.

The lectures focus on what to do, and when and how to do it The presentations are organized by topic and by speaker.
