The Mobile Marine Mammal Clinic (3MC) is a self contained clinic that the U.S. Army personnel at the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center, San Diego (SPARWARSYSCEN, San Diego) developed to provide the very best health care to the Navy's marine mammals in field type operations. This clinic allows the veterinary staff to perform advanced diagnostics and administer treatment to animals while on deployment. The 3MC can be shipped anywhere in the world by several different conveyances i.e., airplane, ship, truck, helicopter. The 3MC has been field tested in support of three Navy deployments with great success. The structure is a Shelter, Electrical Equipment (S-502/GRC 1142-B) container reconfigured for our application. This enclosure can be configured to suit a variety of applications, such as use by stranding networks, field researchers, or as a mobile laboratory. The national stock order number is DAAB07-74-C-0119 and is still available in the national stock system for military personnel. Individuals who wish to obtain this item should contact the Defense Reutilization and Marketing Office (http://www.drms.dla.mil/) for information regarding purchase or contact the manufacturer, Gichner Mobile Systems Inc.
