An ethogram, including time comparisons and initiation of social interactions, is being constructed for dolphins housed at The Living Seas. The 5.7 million gallon system is designed to simulate a Caribbean reef environment. It is stocked with more than 5000 fish and 4 species of sharks. Observed behavioral interactions of the 3 bottlenosed dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) in the system will be compared with reports from field studies.
