Neonatal cetaceans present a considerably more formidable challenge in attempts at hand rearing due to their relative inaccessibility, their generally larger size as neonates, and to their apparent dependency on the passive immunity provided in colostrum. A discussion is presented on nutritional and immunological aspects to hand-rearing neonate cetaceans and a summary of problems encountered.  Recommendations for future efforts in this area are offered.
