How to subscribe to discussions on the VIN Message Boards

Get notifications about discussions that interest you and choose when you’re automatically subscribed to a conversation or folder.

Join the conversation

The easiest way to get notifications about a conversation on the Message Boards is to jump into the discussion.

If you make a new post or reply to another member’s post, you will automatically get emails to alert you to new replies. (Want fewer emails? Learn how to change your settings below.)

You can also subscribe to a discussion to get an email or text anytime the folder or discussion is updated.

To subscribe to a discussion or folder:

• Click the blue Subscribe to Discussion button at the top of the discussion, above the Board/Folder name.
• To follow a folder, look for the blue Follow this Folder button at the bottom of the discussion list on the left side of the page.
  Please note: The 'Follow' function is available on select folders only. The button to subscribe to just the discussion is at the top.
  

  

• When you are subscribed to a discussion or folder, the button appears with a white background. Click it again to unsubscribe.
  
  
  

You have several choices for how you receive subscription updates. Go to MyVIN to set your preferences:

MyVIN > Preferences > Boards > Boards Subscription Options

• Under Delivery Options, you can choose to have updates sent to you via email, text, or both.
• Under Auto-subscribe Options, you can select which actions subscribe you to updates:
  • Making a new post in a medical folder
  • Making a new post in any folder
  • Making a new post in selected folders
  • Replying in a medical folder
  • Replying in any folder
  • Replying in selected folders

• Your email notifications will be sent to the email address you have marked as 'preferred' in your VIN membership record.
• Find out how to change your preferred email address and other settings in your MyVIN Profile.
• Text notifications will be sent to your verified mobile phone number.

To stop receiving alerts, click Unsubscribe in any of the email notifications.
