October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Help your clients understand that mammary gland cancer in pets is the same disease as breast cancer in humans by using this awareness poster in your clinic. A survey of Tennessee veterinarian and physician attitudes, knowledge, and practices regarding zoonoses prevention among animal owners with HIV infection or AIDS
We identified several implications for veterinary medical and medical practice that may reduce zoonoses transmission risks for people with HIV infection or AIDS, including increased communication between veterinarians and physicians, increased communication between people with HIV infection or AIDS and health-care providers, increased availability of client educational materials, and increased participation in zoonoses continuing education opportunities by health-care providers.
Surgical and postoperative complications associated with tibial tuberosity advancement for cranial cruciate ligament rupture in dogs: 458 cases (2007-2009)
High body weight and preoperative patellar tendon angle were significantly associated with complications following TTA in dogs. Subsequent meniscal tear was the most common reason for second surgery, suggesting that medial meniscal release of intact menisci should be considered when performing TTA in dogs.
[Echocardiography in boid snakes: Demonstration and blood flow measurements]
Comparative echocardiography and blood flow measurements in different boid species. Materials and methods: 51 healthy snakes from seven different species were examined echocardiographically under standardized conditions. The heart and the great vessels were displayed using 2-D-ultrasonography. Pulsed-wave doppler technique measurements of the blood flow within the vessels were performed and results analyzed statistically.

I will not hesitate to break the windows if the animal is becoming distressed and no help appears to be on the way. If I get in "trouble" because I tried to save a life, then so be it. At least I'll be able to sleep at night.
