Preliminary findings on the effect of melatonin on the clinical outcome of cataract surgery in dogs
In diabetic dogs, melatonin was more effective than topical and systemic NSAIDs in reducing the clinical score at 2, 7, and 20 days postsurgery, while it showed a similar efficacy to topical dexamethasone in dogs with hereditary cataracts.

Treatment of corneal squamous cell carcinoma using topical 1% 5-fluorouracil as monotherapy
In dogs affected with corneal SCC, topical 1% 5-fluorouracil monotherapy may be a viable and cost-effective treatment option with minimal side effects. This chemotherapy agent may also have an effect on corneal pigmentation.

Equivalence between invasive and oscillometric blood pressures at different anatomic locations in healthy normotensive anaesthetised horses
A cuff width-to-tail circumference ratio of 0.25 is recommended for accurate oscillometric blood pressure measurement in mature, laterally recumbent anaesthetised normotensive horses. Studies with variable haemodynamics are warranted. Oscillometric measurements at other extremities and/or with other cuff sizes cannot be recommended for clinical use.

Differentials For Young Silkie Rooster That Has Seizures
Frizzled Silkies (Sizzles) are more prone to a soft skull issue -- basically no skull cap -- and tend to have seizures or other brain issues.

Marked Pneumoperitoneum In A Cat Later Found To Have A Hole In Her Stomach
Nice job finding the hole! Sometimes the omentum is such a good "solder of the abdomen" that it makes our job hard!

Employment Contract Requires Me To Maintain Liability Insurance If I Am Terminated
You need to shop for an occurrence policy that will cover you for an event that took place during the insured period, regardless of when the plaintiff files a case.

Using Dental Disease Grading Systems
Grading systems are a great idea, but often they can become overly complex and unwieldy. Because most people can agree on the definitions of mild, moderate, or severe, I prefer to discuss the patient's overall oral health with the owners in those terms. I use the AVDC per tooth indices on the dental chart and in the medical record.
