Effects of feline hyperthyroidism on kidney function: a review
This report reviews the complex interplay between hyperthyroidism and kidney function, as well as the effects of hyperthyroid therapy on kidney function.

Pedicle ties provide a rapid and safe method for feline ovariohysterectomy
The pedicle tie (PT) technique is associated with a very low risk of hemorrhage-related complications and is significantly faster than double ligating the ovarian pedicle in kittens and adult cats. Use of the PT technique has the potential to be of significant economic benefit in institutions performing large numbers of feline ovariohysterectomies.

Assessment of intravenous adipose-derived allogeneic mesenchymal stem cells for the treatment of feline chronic kidney disease: a randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial in eight cats
While administration of MSC culture expanded from cryopreserved adipose was not associated with adverse effects, significant improvement in renal function was not observed immediately after administration. Long-term follow-up is necessary to determine whether MSC administration affects disease progression in cats with CKD.

Oronasal Fistula In A Cat That Has A Palatal Eosinophilic Ulcer
Oh my, that does look like a complete oral nasal fistula. Unfortunately, I think the owner's decision to stop treatment for convenience reasons is now biting him in the butt!

Discordant Vaccine Titer Results From Two Dogs
Despite having a reputable laboratory and impeccable methodology, the results of titer testing can be confusing and rarely, if ever, helpful in making vaccine decisions.

Treatment For Paraparesis In Geriatric Dogs That Have Chronic Pain
I agree with titrating gabapentin dosing. I have had them up at 800-1200 mg a dose, titrated, until they are better.

Understanding Hospice and Palliative Care

Presenter: Kathleen Cooney, DVM, MS

This course is designed to help veterinarians and veterinary staff to better understand the hospice philosophy and gain tools to implement directly into their hospice services. Course attendees will learn about the initial hospice consultation, the stages of dying, comfort care protocols, and case examples.
