Looking for Your Message Board Post?
Subscribing is the easiest way to keep track of message board discussions and stay updated on new posts. Now, by default, your preferences are set to auto-subscribe when you make any new posts or replies in the medical folders.

You can change this setting at any time in your MyVIN preferences. Learn how.

If you choose not to auto-subscribe you can still easily find your posts and favorite discussions with with (Ctrl+M), which allows you to track and manage all of your message board and search activities.

Access MyActivities through the icon at the top right or link in the footer of most VIN pages -- or simply press CTRL+M (Control and M keys simultaneously) from anywhere on VIN.

The My Recent section on the main message board page can also help you locate your message board posts quickly.

Note: To use MyActivities you'll want to make sure your browser is set to allow pop ups from VIN. Learn how.

Just Be Yourself
Logging out will keep you and your colleagues from accidentally impersonating each other.

To end your VIN session:

  • Use the Logout button located at the top right of most VIN pages.
  • Open the VINdex (CTRL+E from anywhere on VIN) and choose Logout (the top option).
  • Or, for Mac users, hit Apple+Q to quit the application.

If you work in a multi-doctor practice, make sure you're logged in under your own name so you can enjoy your personalized settings and MyStuff.

Did you know that colleagues working in the same practice qualify for group membership rates? This helpful FAQ will explain how group memberships work.

If you still have questions contact membership services at vingram@vin.com, or call membership services at

  • 1-530-756-4881 (locally)

  • 02 6145 2357 from Australia

About Those 'About This Folder' Pages
You don't have to go to the message boards to find your favorite About this Folder pages. All of the About this Folder pages -- containing your favorite links, consultant profiles, and other resources -- have their own special page in the VIN Library.

This same 'About this Folder' page can be opened instantly from anywhere on VIN using the VINDEX. Just hit CTRL+E (Control and E keys at the same time) and choose "About This Folder Pages." Try it -- you'll like it!

Long Term Functional Outcome of Tibial Tuberosity Advancement vs. Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy and Extracapsular Repair in a Heterogeneous Population of Dogs
At the walk, TTA achieves normal function by 12 months; however, at the trot, TTA is indistinguishable from extracapsular reconstruction. TPLO resulted in operated limb function that was similar to the control population by 6-12 months postoperatively at the walk and the trot.

Does Miralax (PEG 3350) Cause Pancreatitis Or Have Systemic Effects In Cats?
The key to PEG used in Miralax is that it has a high molecular weight, so it will not be absorbed from the gut.

Puppy In Crate Strangled On Seresto Collar
The small collars are designed to break. It turns out the large dog collars do not break-away; they are supposed to ratchet open if a dog gets stuck.

What Is Likelihood That Urate Uroliths Will Recur In Dogs?
If they're urate stones from liver disease, they tend to be pretty recurrent unless the liver shunt is fixed. If it's tubular urate, that's often much more manageable.

September 8 - October 30, 2016
Presenter(s): Rebekah G. Gunn-Christie, DVM, DACVP and Adam Honeckman, DVM, DACVIM

This course offers veterinarians a unique perspective on blood smears and bone marrow aspirates from both an internist and a clinical pathologist teaching in tandem.
