VIN Community Breakfast at ACVIM
If you are attending, we hope you'll join your VIN Community at the VIN breakfast where we can all get together, catch up, meet new friends and share stories.

You'll also be able to learn what's new on VIN, learn some VIN tips and tricks, and see how VIN is helping our colleagues face challenges. Meeting with VINners is always the highlight of conferences.

  • What: VIN Community breakfast -- free for all VINners -- and their guests!
  • When: Saturday, June 11 at 6:30 a.m.
Yes, it's early, but worth it. :-)
  • Where: Hyatt Regency Convention Center in the Mineral Ballroom ABC. View the flyer and map here.

RSVP to let us know you can attend the breakfast -- feel free to bring a guest, just let us know so we know how many biscuits to make.

We look forward to seeing you!

Doxorubicin and carboplatin trials in Tasmanian devils (Sarcophilus harrisii) with Tasmanian devil facial tumor disease
Limiting toxicities for carboplatin were anorexia and weight loss (gastrointestinal signs) and azotemia. Limiting toxicities for doxorubicin were neutropenia, anorexia, and weight loss. None of the treated devils responded to either drug, suggesting that, based on the clonality of this tumour, it is unlikely that either drug individually or in combination would be effective treatments for DFTD.

Most Awkward Moments In Practice: Euthanasia Edition
Worst house call euthanasia involved an aggressive incontinent GSD. Thought we had enough Dom/Torb to sedate, turns out we didn't. I didn't want to leave the partially sedated dog there alone, so my tech drove to the clinic to grab more. The floor was covered in urine and feces, so the smell was awful, and nowhere safe to stand. Made conversation with the client for an hour while waiting for the tech to return. Unfortunately, during this hour I also realized one of the owners who was wearing overalls was not wearing any underwear. Nowhere to stand, nowhere to look, and a dog that wanted to eat my face. Luckily the euthanasia went smoothly.

Small Rodent Review 2016
June 22 – August 6, 2016

Small rodents are commonly seen in private practice, and many veterinarians have a limited working knowledge of this species. This course is intended to provide an in depth overview of husbandry, medicine, and common disease presentations by species in order to allow veterinary staff to feel more comfortable with basic rodent diagnosis and treatment. Clinical symptoms, diagnosis, treatment options, and current considerations for prevention will be covered.

Surviving Euthanasia - Making it Better for Everyone
July 13 - 30, 2016

In this presentation, we will learn to help clients provide home care for the purposes of comfort and to avoid side effects of their companion's illness. We'll discuss some tools for objective assessment of quality of life and different ways to help the client prioritize treatments. How do we know when a patient is "suffering"? When is the "right time" to assist the ending of a life? And, how do we, as healthcare providers, cope with this?

Visit the CE Participant Resource Center to learn the basics of online CE, how to find your course area, CE participation requirements, and much more!

Check the World Clock Time Zone Converter to confirm session start times for your area.
